Stuart’s August Juice Message

NGGW members and visitors; please see our upcoming events and Zoom meetings. Add them to your calendar – and we hope you can attend as many as possible. We need your support. As you’d imagine, we are continuously expanding our circles of influence on a local and state basis and constantly working to make our organization more meaningful for you. Please provide any suggestions for events/educational zoom meetings or anything else you think can expand NGGW.

SEPTEMBER:

Wednesday, September 8th (6PM) ZOOM Meeting Featuring a “Round- table Discussion on Malolactic Fermentation”

Malolactic fermentation, Secondary fermentation, MLF or ML for short, is the process in which malic acid in wine is converted to lactic acid. It’s a nature process, but winemakers usually start it themselves for most red wines and some white wines to ensure their wines go through ML after primary fermentation. Contrary to regular or primary fermentation (where yeast converts sugar into alcohol), ML is caused by bacteria.
